Lowering Links

Lowering Links & VAG-COM // 02.14.2018

A ways back, I lowered the car with VAGCOM as documented here. I had lowering links laying around for quite some time and finally got around to installing them this week, as the lowering with VAGCOM still left a good sized gap I wanted to get rid of.

I purchased the Airmatic lowering links , their old version, which comes with good / straightforward instructions. Net/net:
  1. Adjust Airmatic links to preferred height (every 5mm change you make results in 25mm drop. Max suggested drop is 8mm). Note, the front links are shorter than the rear links, so don't get them mixed up
  2. Use a jack to put the wheels up and off one at a time (technically you don't have to remove wheels for the front, but it's a lot easier)
  3. Pop off OEM links
  4. Install Airmatic links
  5. Do this for all 4 wheels prior to turning on car (engine on) and move it forward/back for a minute or so on level ground to allow the car to adapt
